Application Containers
Lab 3: Containers Queries
Overview
In Lab3 we introduce a very powerful cross-container
aggregation capability – containers() queries. Containers() queries allow an application administrator to connect
to Application Root and aggregate data with a single query across multiple
Application Tenants (Franchises) – or across all of them. This is another
example of how Multitenant, with Application Containers, allows you to manage
many Application Tenants as one, when needed.
Execution
- Open a terminal window
- Change directory to /u01/HOL/app_containers/
- source the environment. At command prompt execute source cdb1.env
- sqlplus /nolog
- At the SQL prompt execute SQL>@03.Containers_Queries.sql
Review of Application Container Lab3:
Aggregate Queries are issued from Application Root. The derivative simple queries are executed recursively and in parallel in each of the applicable containers – the Application Root and the Application PDBs for each franchise / tenant – and the results are returned to the Application Root for aggregation. Notice values in column Franchise come from pseudo-column Con$Name.
Detailed Steps
You are now encouraged to execute various queries some queries against the various franchise PDBs. Sample queries can be found in file Lab3_Containers_Queries.sql.
